A Prayer for Willing Hearts to Serve and Journey to God
"I make a decree, that all they of the people of Israel, and of his priests and Levites, in my realm, which are minded of their own freewill to go up to Jerusalem, go with thee." - Ezra 7:13

O Gracious and Almighty Father,
We humbly come before Thy throne of grace, acknowledging Thy sovereignty and the vastness of Thy love towards us. In Thy omnipotence, we find our refuge and strength, and we are reminded of the words spoken in Ezra 7:13, where it is decreed that all who are of the people of Israel, along with the priests and Levites, who are inclined in their hearts of their own freewill to journey to Jerusalem, may freely go.
Lord, today we seek to emulate this eternal decree of voluntary service and willing hearts. Just as Ezra led the people with a resolute spirit and purpose, inspire us, O Lord, to have hearts that are not only willing but also eager to follow the paths You have set before us. May we echo the spirit of that decree in our lives, desiring to go up to our own 'Jerusalem'—the place of Your presence, purpose, and peace.
Heavenly Father, grant us the grace to discern our own free will and allow it to align with Your divine will. Teach us the profound importance of serving You and others from a place of willingness rather than obligation. Let every man and woman of faith around us hear the call and respond with joy, as those called by Ezra did.
Help us, O Lord, to recognize our role as Your priests and Levites in this present age. May we be willing vessels, who carry Your love and truth into a world that desperately needs Your light. Let us not shy away from our responsibilities but embrace the calling to serve You and to minister to those in need.
As we ponder the journey that Ezra and his companions undertook, we are reminded of the challenges that lie ahead for us as we choose to walk in Your paths. Lord, grant us courage to face any obstacles that may arise as we seek to draw closer to You. May we be strengthened in faith, as we navigate through our personal deserts and journey toward spiritual heights.
Sustain us in our mission to lift each other up, working in unity as one body, recognizing that every gift and every calling plays a significant role in advancing Your kingdom. Foster in us a spirit of brotherhood and community as we embark on our quest to grow closer to You and each other.
Father, we pray for a revival of the willing hearts among Your people. May Your Spirit awaken desire in the hearts of many to respond with eagerness to go up to our spiritual Jerusalem. Let there be an outpouring of motivation and zeal among us to fulfill the gathering of the faithful, who will come together to worship, serve, and uplift one another.
As we look to Ezra, who was a man of action and purpose, inspire us to be proactive in our faith—taking deliberate steps to engage with our community, to foster hope, and to ignite passion among those around us. Teach us to be leaders, like Ezra, who influence others by living out our faith authentically and professing Your goodness in our lives.
O Lord, we place our trust in You, for You have declared that all who are 'minded of their own freewill' are welcomed into Your presence. Strengthen our resolve, enlighten our minds, and ignite our hearts to chase after You wholly and without hesitation. With every step we take, may we be reminded of this sacred invitation, knowing that we are not alone in our journey.
In the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior, we pray.
Amen.
