O Gracious and Eternal God,

We come before You today with hearts that seek to honor and worship You, echoing the sentiment captured in Ezra 6:10 — "That they may offer sacrifices of sweet savours unto the God of heaven, and pray for the life of the king, and of his sons." We recognize that You are the God of heaven, the Creator of all things, and the One who governs the affairs of men, including the hearts of kings and leaders.

As we gather in this sacred moment, we are reminded of the significance of offering sacrifices that are pleasing in Your sight. Lord, help us to understand that our sacrifices are not merely about material offerings, but encompass our lives, our praises, and our actions. Enable us to live sacrificially, dedicating our time, talents, and resources to glorify Your holy name. May our lives be like a sweet aroma rising before You, a reflection of our love and reverence for all You are. Teach us to lay down our self-centered desires and instead pursue Your will above all else.

Father, we come to You with a spirit of humility and supplication. We recognize that leaders are a gift from You, appointed to serve and guide our nations. In accordance with the prayer of Ezra, we come before You on behalf of the kings, rulers, and those in positions of authority. We ask that You bless them with wisdom, discernment, and integrity as they navigate the complexities of leadership.

Lord, we pray for the life of the king and his sons, just as Ezra prayed for the well-being of the leadership of his time. We understand that their decisions impact the lives of many, and therefore, we beseech You to grant them divine insight. Fill their hearts with compassion, goodness, and a desire for justice, so they may lead in a manner that reflects Your righteousness. May their reign produce peace and prosperity, not just within their territories, but to all whom they influence.

We also lift up our own leaders before You, whether they rule locally or nationally. Surround them with advisors and counselors who fear You, and who will encourage them to operate in a manner that honors Your truth. Instill in them a sense of accountability to their constituents, and a genuine concern for the welfare of their people.

Heavenly Father, we also recognize the challenges and temptations leaders face. Therefore, we pray for Your protection over them. Guard their hearts and minds against pride, arrogance, and corruption. May they seek after righteousness and stand firm against the pressures of the world that pull them away from Your truth.

Lord, we acknowledge that leadership is not only for those in political positions but also for us in our everyday lives — in our families, workplaces, and communities. Teach us to be leaders in our own circles who model Your love and grace, thereby offering our sacrifices of praise and serving those around us in humility. May we, too, pray for our leaders, remembering that they bear the responsibility of guiding us toward a hopeful future.

As we conclude this prayer, O God, we thank You for hearing our supplications. May our intercessions for the kings and those in authority be taken up into Your presence as a sweet sacrifice. We trust in Your profound wisdom to lead us and our leaders, shaping our world in accordance with Your divine will. In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
