A Prayer for Repentance and Restoration

"¶ Wherefore, O harlot, hear the word of the LORD:" - Ezekiel 16:35

"¶ Wherefore, O harlot, hear the word of the LORD:" - Ezekiel 16:{verse.verse_number}

O Sovereign Lord, Mighty in Power and Rich in Mercy,

As I come before You today, I humbly acknowledge Your supreme authority over all creation. You have seen the depths of my heart and the paths I have wandered, just as You addressed Your people in Ezekiel 16:35: "Wherefore, O harlot, hear the word of the LORD." I stand before You, fully aware of my shortcomings and the ways I have strayed from Your divine purposes.

Lord God, in this verse, You beckon the wayward and lost ones to listen to Your calling, to hear the truth that You speak. I recognize that just as the Israelites turned away from You and sought refuge in false idols, so too have I sought fulfillment in things that do not satisfy. Lord, I have at times played the harlot; I have chased after fleeting pleasures and misplaced my trust in worldly things, rather than in You, my Creator and Sustainer of life. I ask for Your forgiveness for my waywardness and for turning my back on Your loving guidance.

I pray that You would open my ears to hear Your words anew. May Your Holy Spirit convict me of my sins and awaken in me a deeper desire for holiness and righteousness. Help me to recognize the areas in my life where I have compromised my faith and neglected my relationship with You. Draw me back into Your embrace, O Lord, where there is safety and love.

Father, I cry out for restoration. You are the God who transforms lives, who takes broken hearts and makes them whole again. Just as You called the people of Israel to repent and return to You, I ask that You would help me to turn from my wicked ways. Teach me to forsake the allure of sin that leads me away from Your presence. I long to be restored to a place of intimacy with You, where I can walk in Your light and experience the fullness of joy that come from obedience to Your word.

God, I am mindful that my actions have far-reaching consequences. Forgive me for any harm I have caused to others through my choices. May my repentance not just be a private affair but may it also lead to healing in my relationships. Help me to be honest and forthright as I address the hurt I may have caused. Let me be an instrument of Your peace and love, a testament to Your restoring power.

As I seek to hear Your words, help me to align my life with Your will. I pray for wisdom and discernment in my decisions, that I might choose paths that glorify You, rather than the fleeting desires of my heart. Let Your words penetrate deep into my soul, challenging me to grow, to be accountable, and to live as a reflection of Your grace.

I ask, O Lord, that You would create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me. Let my life be a testament to Your mercy and grace—a living example of a heart transformed by Your love. When I am tempted to stray, remind me of Your powerful declarations of truth. Let the words of Ezekiel ring loudly in my heart, calling me back to You every time I falter.

In the name of Jesus, I claim victory over the temptations that seek to ensnare me. I trust that through Your mercy, I can be restored. I submit to Your will and Your perfect plan for my life.

Thank You, Father, for the promise of redemption. Thank You for continually calling me back to You. May my heart be turned forever to the One who loves me most. In Jesus’ name, I pray,

Amen.
