A Prayer for Compassion and Deliverance
"And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews' children." - Exodus 2:6

Heavenly Father,
As I come before You today, I want to reflect upon the deep, profound moment captured in Exodus 2:6 — “And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews' children.” Lord, we gather in Your holy presence, acknowledging the extraordinary love that You demonstrate in this passage.
My heart stirs as I contemplate the scene of a mother who, against all odds, defies the decree of a merciless Pharaoh who sought to extinguish the lives of innocent children. In this moment, I see Your hand at work, Lord. You are the God who sees, hears, and acts. Indeed, You have always been the Protector of the weak, the Defender of the oppressed.
Heavenly Father, in our world today, we face many challenges and injustices where compassion seems to be overshadowed by indifference and cruelty. Just as the daughter of Pharaoh gazed upon the helpless infant and was moved by compassion, I pray, Lord, that You would open our eyes to the needs of those around us. Help us to see the vulnerable among us — the children, the elderly, the refugees, and all who suffer from hardship. May our hearts overflow with empathy and love, so that we can respond in ways that reflect Your compassionate nature.
Lord, as we read that the babe wept, we are reminded of the cries that arise in our communities and around the world today. You are aware, Heavenly Father, of every tear shed, every heart that aches — those who feel abandoned and lost, those who long for a home, and those who cry out for justice. Help us to recognize these cries, Father, and stir within us a desire to alleviate the suffering of others. May we be instruments of Your peace, each of us acting in a way that reflects Your heart.
I thank You, Lord, for the compassion exhibited by the daughter of Pharaoh, for in her act, a river of hope began to flow for the Israelites. Let us not underestimate our actions in the face of despair, for an act of kindness can bring about redemption and healing. When we feel overwhelmed by the needs of the world, remind us that one small act of compassion can change a life. Grant us courage to rise against the injustices we witness, just as she did. May we approach each situation with a spirit of kindness, bearing witness to Your love in our actions.
Jesus, You taught us to love others as You have loved us. Help me to embody that love in my daily life. Let Your compassion break through the walls of apathy and self-interest within me. May I be willing to step out of my comfort zone, like Pharaoh's daughter, to care for the least among us. Let my heart be open to those who are hurting, and let me respond with the grace and mercy that You so freely bestow.
Lord, help us to remember that every child, every person we encounter is precious in Your sight. When we see another suffer, help us to hear that soft call for love, understanding, and support. In a world driven by chaos and division, make us ambassadors of Your peace—emotionally, spiritually, and physically aiding those in need.
Finally, Lord, I seek guidance on how to be a channel of Your compassion. Show me the specific ways I can serve those who are hurting. Teach me to listen and to share hope where it is desperately needed. Just as the compassionate heart of Pharaoh’s daughter changed the destiny of Moses, I pray that my acts, small or great, might also bear fruit in Your divine plan. Strengthen my resolve to stand for justice, keeping the interests of others at heart.
Thank You, Lord, for hearing my prayer today. Help me to be ever mindful of the gift of compassion and the power it holds in bringing healing to our world. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
