A Prayer for Pure Oil and Light
"¶ And thou shalt command the children of Israel, that they bring thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamp to burn always." - Exodus 27:20

Heavenly Father,
With a humble heart, I come before You today, reflecting on Your holy Word in Exodus 27:20, where You instructed Moses to command the children of Israel to bring pure olive oil beaten for the light, that the lamps may burn continually. Lord, as I ponder this directive, I am reminded of the significance of light in our lives, both physically and spiritually. Your light dispels darkness, guides us along our paths, and nourishes our souls.
O Lord, I yearn to be a vessel of Your light. Just as You commanded the Israelites to bring forth pure oil, I pray that You would help me to bring forth the purity and integrity within my own life. Help me seek after the pure and holy things that reflect Your love, grace, and mercy. May my heart be a repository of the divine oil—the oil of gladness, the oil of healing, and the oil of joy that flows from Your Spirit.
Father, I ask for the strength to endure the beating and refining process necessary to produce this pure oil. Just as the olives must be pressed to release their precious oil, so too must I be willing to be refined through trials and tribulations. Teach me to embrace discomfort as a path to spiritual growth. In moments of struggle, I find myself questioning Your plan; yet I know that every challenge I face serves a greater purpose in drawing me closer to You.
Lord, let the pure oil within me flow freely, empowering me to be a lamp that shines brightly in this dark world. May my actions reflect Your glory—loving others as You have loved me, serving the needy, and sharing the good news of salvation. When people look upon my life, I pray they may see Your light shining through me, illuminating their way to know You.
Help me be mindful that my light must burn always. I recognize that it requires constant replenishment—just as the lamps in the tabernacle required pure oil, my spirit needs Your continual refilling. I seek to draw near to You daily—to read Your Word, spend time in prayer, and immerse myself in worship. For it is in these sacred moments that I gather the oil I need to sustain my lamp.
Father, in a world filled with distractions, I pray that I will not allow my light to grow dim. Guard my heart against the pollution of worldly influences that seek to extinguish my flame. Help me to clear away distractions and instead focus on the pursuits that draw me closer to You. May I fill my mind with truth and my heart with love, that I may be equipped to shine brightly, reflecting Your righteousness.
I also pray for my fellow believers, Lord. Unite us in purpose, as the children of Israel came together under Your command. May we be reminded of our collective responsibility to bring forth pure oil for the light. Let us encourage one another and hold each other accountable in our walk of faith. When one of us is weary, may the rest of us step in to help, rekindling the flame and ensuring that our collective light burns ever brighter.
Lord, I thank You for the promise that Your light will overcome all darkness. As we bring forth our pure oil, may it serve as a beacon of hope to a world in desperate need of Your love. Guide us in our mission to share the light of Christ, setting hearts ablaze with the truth of the Gospel.
In the name of Jesus, the light of the world, I offer this prayer, trusting that You will ignite our hearts and guide our steps.
Amen.
