Recognizing the Supremacy of God in Our Lives
"Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods: for in the thing wherein they dealt proudly he was above them." - Exodus 18:11

Heavenly Father,
I come before You today with a heart full of gratitude and awe, recognizing Your greatness and sovereignty over all things. As depicted in Exodus 18:11, "Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods: for in the thing wherein they dealt proudly he was above them," I reflect on the profound truth that You, O Lord, are exalted above every earthly power and dominion. You reign supreme in the heavens and upon the earth, and I am humbled to call You my God.
Lord, I acknowledge that in our world, many venerated things draw the attention and worship of men, yet I stand firm in my faith, asserting that none can compare to You. The pursuits of wealth, celebrity, ambition, and materialism often entrap the hearts of those around me, leading them to deify their own creations. Yet, I recognize that as they seek fulfillment in these fleeting idols, they ultimately miss the eternal satisfaction that Your presence provides.
Your Word, O God, declares that You indeed are above them all. In moments when pride tries to take root in our hearts or our lives, remind us of Your greatness. Let us not become like the proud who seek glory for themselves, but instead break us down so that we may recognize our need for You. May our humility draw us closer to Your throne of grace, that we may see You as the source of our wisdom and understanding.
I pray for a deeper understanding of Your magnificence. Help me to discern the false idols in my life—from desire for social acceptance to the comfort of routine, which can lead me away from acknowledging Your supremacy. Teach me the value of recognizing You in all circumstances, be they trials or triumphs, knowing that it is through these experiences I comprehend more of Your power and presence.
In Your Word, You have shown me time and again that Your ways are higher than our ways, and Your thoughts far exceed ours. I implore You to reign in my heart, to guide my decisions so that they may reflect Your glory. May my motivations shift from self-serving aspirations towards those things that elevate You. As I navigate my daily existence, instill in my spirit a desire to lift my eyes to You—to seek You for direction, strength, and wisdom in every choice I make.
As we observe the world around us, Lord, grant us the courage to stand firm against the tides of faithlessness. Let our lives be testimonies to Your unmatched authority: a beacon of hope that exclaims, "The Lord our God is indeed greater than all." Help us engage with an anxious world not with defeat but with a proclamation that there is a greater force than any chaos—the peace of knowing You reign over all.
In the face of challenges, may we find solace in this truth. When troubles attempt to overwhelm, let us remember that hiring more helpers or digging deeper into despair cannot substitute Your divine ability to prevail. Your hand, O Lord, is mightier than any force. Therefore, I surrender every concern to You and rest in the knowledge of Your omnipotence, trusting You to bring Your will into fruition.
Thank You for the assurance that I am never alone—that Your presence continually surrounds me. In reverence, I offer worship to You, acknowledging that it is not only good but necessary that we place our hope in the God who is greater than any other. May every aspect of my life serve as a testament to my faith in You, God, who is above all gods.
In the precious name of Jesus, I pray.
Amen.
