A Prayer for Discernment and Acceptance
"Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord." - Ephesians 5:10

Heavenly Father,
We come before Your throne of grace with hearts filled with reverence and awe. You are the Creator of the universe, the Giver of every good and perfect gift, and we acknowledge Your sovereignty and majesty in our lives. Today, as we dwell on the words of Ephesians 5:10, "Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord," we seek Your divine wisdom and guidance.
Lord, we live in a world that is filled with confusion, where the lines between right and wrong often seem blurred. As we navigate our everyday lives, we ask for the discernment to identify what truly pleases You. Help us to cultivate an understanding that goes beyond mere appearances, piercing through the distractions and deceptions of this world, so we may align our actions with Your will.
Grant us clarity in our pursuits, dear Lord. In a culture that often promotes self-interest, teach us to strive for what is acceptable in Your sight. Help us to understand that true fulfillment comes not from seeking our own desires but from humbly serving others and reflecting Your love in every aspect of our lives.
As we step into the challenges of each day, open our eyes to see the opportunities to do good. Enable us to identify the actions that mirror Christ’s love, leading us to be examples of Your grace and truth. Let our lives be a testimony of a heart devoted to Your ways, allowing our very existence to be a reflection of Your glory.
In our relationships, grant us the wisdom to speak words that are edifying and encouraging. May our interactions with family, friends, coworkers, and even strangers be infused with hope and kindness. Teach us to listen actively, responding with an open heart and mind. Help us to extend the grace we have received from You, even when it is difficult, as we strive to prove what is acceptable unto You.
Lord, guard our hearts against complacency and apathy. Inspire us to dig deeply into Your Word, seeking to know You more intimately and to understand what it means to live a life that honors You. Create in us a hunger for righteousness that drives us to seek out the things that are pure, lovely, and of good report, as we examine our lives against the truth of Scripture.
We hold fast to the promise that when we seek You diligently and with all our hearts, You will reveal Yourself to us. Give us the courage to make the necessary changes in our lives as we strive to prove what is acceptable unto You. Help us to shed any habits or attitudes that do not reflect Your character and to embody the fruits of the Spirit in all that we do.
As we seek to prove what is acceptable unto the Lord, may our hearts remain open to correction. Teach us to respond with humility when we falter, knowing that Your grace is sufficient for our weaknesses. Surround us with fellow believers who will uplift and encourage us in our walk of faith, and provide us with the strength to be instruments of encouragement in their lives as well.
Lord, may our lives be an offering unto You. Let our thoughts, words, and actions not only align with Your will but also inspire those around us to seek after Your heart. Help us to be conduits of Your love in a world desperately in need of hope and truth.
We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer. Guide us as we commit ourselves to proving what is acceptable unto You, now and forevermore.
In Jesus’ holy name, we pray,
Amen.
