A Prayer for Seasons of Life
"A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;" - Ecclesiastes 3:2

Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, filled with awe and reverence for Your perfect design and timing in our lives. As we reflect on the words of Ecclesiastes 3:2, “A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted,” we acknowledge the profound truth contained in these verses. You, in Your infinite wisdom, have orchestrated the seasons of our lives with purpose and precision.
Lord, we thank You for the gift of life itself. We marvel at the moment of our birth when You breathed life into us, knitting us together in our mother’s womb. Each breath we take is a testament to Your creative power and love. We are grateful for the families, the communities, and the relationships we are born into. Help us to cherish these gifts and to understand the unique purpose You have for each of us.
In times of struggle and sorrow, when we face difficulties or witness the birth of new lives amidst chaos, remind us that there is a time for everything under the heavens. You have set the seasons; You know when to birth new ideas, relationships, and opportunities in our hearts, and You also know when those things must come to an end. Help us, Lord, to embrace these transitions, knowing that they are part of Your divine plan.
As we contemplate the phrase “a time to die,” we grapple with the weight of its meaning. Death is such a profound and often painful reality, and yet, You remind us in Your Word that it is a natural course of life. Help us to accept that death is not the end but a transition into eternity—a time when we will be fully united with You, our Creator. Comfort us, O Lord, in our grief and loss. May we find solace in the hope of resurrection through Christ.
We also recognize the seasons of planting and reaping in our lives. Teach us to plant seeds of kindness, love, and compassion in our hearts and in the lives of others. Allow us to cultivate relationships and efforts that honor You and bear fruit in due time. In moments when we feel the ache of laboring with little result, remind us that the time to pluck up will come, and the fruits of our labor may not always bloom on our schedule, but on Yours. Give us patience and perseverance, believing that You are working behind the scenes, even when we cannot see it.
Heavenly Father, there are many times when we struggle to discern the season we are in. Help us to trust in Your timing and purpose, even when it feels uncertain or uncomfortable. Equip us with wisdom to know when to let go and when to hold on tightly. Instill in us a spirit of discernment so that we can recognize the opportunities to sow and the moments to reap. May we always seek Your guidance in every season of life.
As we embrace the cycles of birth and death, planting and reaping, let us not forget to celebrate the joys and lessons that each season brings. Teach us to be grateful for every moment, to cherish the encounters, the experiences, and even the challenges that shape our character.
Father, we pray for those who are in a season of loss and mourning right now. Grant them peace and comfort in Your presence. For those who are entering into new beginnings, may they feel Your strength and encouragement. For those planting seeds of faith and endeavor, may they have the courage to nurture them and trust in their growth.
We conclude this prayer with a heart full of gratitude for Your divine orchestration of our lives. In every season, oh Lord, may You be glorified, and may we find our strength, hope, and peace in You alone.
In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
