Prayer for Wisdom and Greatness
"So I was great, and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me." - Ecclesiastes 2:9

Heavenly Father,
I come before You today, humbly acknowledging Your greatness and sovereignty over all creation. You are the Giver of wisdom, the source of all knowledge, and the one who grants favor to those who seek You. In the words of Ecclesiastes 2:9, we read, "So I was great, and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me." Lord, I meditate on this verse and seek to understand its true significance in my life and in the lives of those around me.
Father, I thank You for the periods of growth and success that You have blessed me with. Just as Solomon experienced greatness beyond his peers in Jerusalem, I recognize that all achievements in my life emanate from Your benevolent hand. I realize that worldly success does not stem from my own abilities but from the wisdom that You generously provide. Help me to keep this truth at the forefront of my heart and mind as I navigate the challenges and opportunities of life.
Lord, as Solomon acknowledged his greatness, may I also see the potential that You have placed within me. I ask for the courage to step into my purpose boldly, knowing that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. May I not shy away from greatness or fear the heights to which You call me—let me embrace the journey with perseverance and joy.
Yet with greatness comes an overwhelming responsibility. Teach me, gracious God, to wield the wisdom that remains with me, just as it did with Solomon. Help me to understand that wisdom is not simply knowledge or understanding, but the application of truth in our daily lives. Let my wisdom guide my decisions, illuminate my path, and influence those around me positively. Fill me with discernment, that I may navigate the complexities of this world with grace and integrity.
As I increase in knowledge and understanding, keep my heart humble, O Lord. May I never forget the fragility of life and the importance of serving others. Help me to be a reflection of Your loving kindness, sharing the wisdom I gain with humility and compassion. Let my greatness be an instrument of service rather than a means of pride. Teach me to rejoice in the accomplishments of others and to lift them in their pursuits, just as You have lifted me.
Heavenly Father, I pray for those who are struggling with feelings of inadequacy, who may feel that they have little to offer in this world. Remind them of their unique potential and design, that each person is imbued with purpose by You. May they also find comfort in the promise of wisdom that remains with us, aiding us in every potential endeavor.
Guide me, O Lord, in my pursuit of greater wisdom and understanding. In a world that often values wealth and status, remind me that true greatness lies in character, service, and the willingness to lead a life that glorifies You. Let my works be my testimony, that others may see the goodness of God reflected in my actions.
In all my endeavors, may I seek to honor You first and foremost. I surrender any agendas of selfish ambition or pride. Let my ambition be rooted in serving others, for as I uplift those around me, I fulfill Your command to love my neighbor as myself.
Thank You, Lord, for the gift of wisdom. Thank You for the opportunities ahead. Help me to walk in a manner worthy of my calling, ever mindful of the wisdom that You have blessed me with.
In Jesus’ name, I pray,
Amen.
