A Prayer for Wisdom in Leadership
"There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, as an error which proceedeth from the ruler:" - Ecclesiastes 10:5

Heavenly Father,
As I come before You today, I am humbled by Your infinite wisdom and the depth of Your understanding. You alone know what lies in the hearts of kings and rulers, and I acknowledge that true leadership is a heavy mantle to bear. In Ecclesiastes 10:5, You remind us, "There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, as an error which proceedeth from the ruler." I reflect on these words, recognizing the weight of responsibility that comes with authority and the profound impact leaders have on the lives of the people they govern.
Lord, I pray for our leaders, both those who serve on a small scale in local communities, and those who hold the highest offices of our nations. Let them seek Your wisdom above any worldly counsel. May they know that their authority is not merely a position but a service unto You and to their fellow citizens. Father, I ask You to guard their hearts against pride and corruption, that no evil may take root within their decisions. Help them to remain humble and grounded, always remembering that they are servants of the people.
In a world that often seems to falter under the weight of bad governance, I plead for clear vision among our leaders. They face challenges that can confound even the most astute minds. Surround them with advisors of integrity, people who will guide them toward truth and righteousness. Give them discernment to recognize and resist the temptations that come with power. May errors that stem from their authority be minimized, and may they strive to lead with justice and grace.
As Your Word points out, the follies of rulers can lead to great suffering. Let this truth stir within us a collective yearning for transformation in leadership, both in our communities and across the globe. We witness the mismanagement and injustices perpetuated by those in power, but we trust in Your sovereignty. You see all things, and nothing escapes Your understanding. Therefore, I beseech You, shift the hearts of those in authority toward Your way. Where there is evil, let righteousness prevail. Where there is error, let correction be swift and meaningful.
Lord, grant courage to those in leadership who face pressures to comply with unrighteous acts. Help them to stand firm against the tide of corruption, to be beacons of hope and integrity in a world that can appear so bleak. Empower them with Your strength to resist practices that bring harm to those they are meant to protect. Let their actions reflect wisdom that comes from above, marked by purity, peace, gentleness, and mercy.
May we, as citizens, do our part in holding our leaders accountable. Help us engage in activism that promotes justice and peace. Teach us to pray fervently for our leaders, acknowledging that they need You every moment of every day. Grant us the wisdom to choose leaders who align with Your truth and righteousness, and to support those who seek to lead in a manner that brings honor to You.
In these turbulent times, let not our hearts grow weary. Help us to trust in Your divine plan, knowing that You work all things for the good of those who love You. May we never forget that You are our ultimate ruler and our source of wisdom. We lean on You and seek Your face in all circumstances.
Thank You, Lord, for hearing my prayer. I place the fate of our leaders and our nations into Your capable hands. Let Your will be done.
In Jesus’ Name, I pray,
Amen.
