A Prayer for Courage in the Presence of Our Mighty God
"Thou shalt not be affrighted at them: for the LORD thy God is among you, a mighty God and terrible." - Deuteronomy 7:21

Heavenly Father,
As I come before You, I am filled with a deep sense of awe and reverence. Your Word reminds us in Deuteronomy 7:21, "Thou shalt not be affrighted at them: for the LORD thy God is among you, a mighty God and terrible." What consolation it is to know that we are not alone! In moments of fear and uncertainty, help me to lean on this truth. Lord, I acknowledge that there are many things in this life that can intimidate us, situations that can cause us to feel small, and challenges that may seem insurmountable. Yet, in the face of such adversity, You assure us that You are present, mighty, and able to deliver us from all our fears.
Lord, I ask for the strength to trust completely in You. Let not the whispers of doubt and despair infiltrate my heart. Instead, fill me with the confidence that comes from knowing that You are always beside me. May Your presence cast out any fear that tries to take root in my heart. Teach me to stand firm against the challenges I face, remembering that although foes may appear formidable, they are nothing compared to Your might and majesty.
I come before You today to acknowledge my weaknesses. There are times when I falter, when I am overwhelmed by the storms of life. Please forgive me for the moments I have allowed fear to dictate my choices. Help me to remember that fear is not of You, but rather a distraction that pulls my focus away from Your powerful goodness. Lord, as You have commanded me not to be afraid, grant me the fortitude to embrace that command fully in the name of Jesus.
Heavenly Father, I pray for those around me who may be gripped by fear and anxiety. Show me how to be a beacon of hope and encouragement in their lives. When my friends, family, or community members feel burdened by their troubles, let them see Your strength reflected in my words and actions. Help me to point them back to You, to remind them that we serve a mighty God who is more than capable of handling our biggest challenges.
As I meditate on the greatness of Your power, I am reminded of the many ways You have been faithful in my life. You have delivered me from trials, You have provided for my needs, and You have remained steadfast through every circumstance. With this remembrance, grant me a heart of gratitude. Let my response to Your goodness be worship and praise, and let me testify boldly of Your might.
Lord, I pray that Your mighty presence would accompany me, that I may walk in the boldness of Your Spirit. Cover me with Your peace, so that I might face the giants in my life—whether they be fears, doubts, or external circumstances—with the confidence that comes from knowing my God is among me. Let me not turn to fear but let my gaze remain steadfast on You.
May I always remember that my strength does not reside in my abilities but in Your eternal promise: that You are always with us, a mighty God and terrible. Help me to reflect this truth in every area of my life, from my personal struggles to the way I engage with the world around me. Let my life shine brightly as a testament to Your glory and might.
Thank You, heavenly Father, for hearing my prayers. Thank You for the assurance that I can face each day with courage, regardless of the challenges it may hold. May Your Name be glorified through my life as I embrace the truth of Your Word and walk boldly in faith. In Jesus’ name, I pray.
Amen.
