A Prayer for Our Families and Communities

"Your little ones, your wives, and thy stranger that is in thy camp, from the hewer of thy wood unto the drawer of thy water:" - Deuteronomy 29:11

"Your little ones, your wives, and thy stranger that is in thy camp, from the hewer of thy wood unto the drawer of thy water:" - Deuteronomy 29:{verse.verse_number}

O Lord our God,

Creator of all that is seen and unseen,

We come before You in humble adoration,

Seeking Your wisdom and guidance.

As we reflect upon Deuteronomy 29:11,

We recognize the profound depth of Your love

For our families, our communities, and even those

Who may feel like strangers among us.

"Your little ones, your wives, and thy stranger

That is in thy camp, from the hewer of thy wood

Unto the drawer of thy water."

Lord, we lift each of these groups to You today.

We pray earnestly for our little ones,

The innocent souls who look to us for guidance

And protection.

Shower them with love and teach them

To walk in Your ways.

May we as guardians of their hearts and minds

Nurture them in understanding, kindness,

And faith, so they may grow to reflect Your light

In this world.

Help us to create a safe haven for them,

Where they can flourish, learn, and most importantly,

Know You deeply.

We pray for our wives and mothers,

The backbone of our households,

Who manage the intricate tapestry of our homes,

Balancing love, labor, and all that comes

With being stewards of the family.

Strengthen them, Lord!

Grant them peace in the chaos,

Wisdom in their decisions,

And comfort through Your presence.

May they always find joy in their work,

And feel Your embrace when they are weary.

Let us honor and cherish their sacrifices,

And cultivate a spirit of gratitude amongst us.

Now, we also include in our prayer,

The strangers among us,

Those who may come from different places,

Carrying their burdens, and seeking refuge.

Let us treat them with the love, respect,

And kindness that You have bestowed upon us,

For every person is Your creation,

Bearing unique stories and gifts.

Help us to foster a spirit of hospitality,

Welcoming those who need safe passage

Through our lives.

As we reflect on the phrase, "from the hewer of thy wood

Unto the drawer of thy water,"

We acknowledge the importance of every role

In our households and communities.

Whether large or small,

Each contribution is invaluable

In the sight of Your kingdom.

In the spirit of unity,

May we find joy in working alongside one another,

Recognizing the dignity of labor,

And appreciating the common purpose

We share in serving each other.

O Lord, let us build bonds of compassion,

Empathy, and mutual respect.

Remind us that no task is beneath us;

Rather, each action we perform,

From the simplest to the most complex,

Serves a greater purpose in Your divine plan.

We pray for a community strengthened

By love, understanding, and the resolve

To support one another as You support us.

Help us to see Your face in the faces

Of the little ones, the wives,

And the strangers you place in our midst,

So that we may live out Your commandment

To love our neighbors as ourselves.

May our lives reflect Your grace,

And may we always seek to uplift

And empower those You entrust to us.

We pray this in the name of Your son,

Jesus Christ, who taught us to love,

To serve, and to uphold one another in faith.

Amen.
