A Prayer of Thanksgiving and Generosity
"¶ When thou hast made an end of tithing all the tithes of thine increase the third year, which is the year of tithing, and hast given it unto the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled;" - Deuteronomy 26:12

O Heavenly Father,
We come before You in humble adoration, acknowledging Your supreme sovereignty and endless love. As we gather in the sacredness of this moment, we reflect on the words of Deuteronomy 26:12, which reminds us, "When thou hast made an end of tithing all the tithes of thine increase the third year, which is the year of tithing, and hast given it unto the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled."
Lord, we recognize the immeasurable blessings that You have poured into our lives. Each increase, each gift, and every provision comes from Your gracious hand. We lift our hearts in gratitude for the fruits of our labor; may we never forget that all we have is a stewardship from You. Grant us the wisdom to acknowledge where our blessings originate, and may our hearts reflect a spirit of generosity.
As we arrive at this moment of tithing, let our giving be a true reflection of our faith. Teach us to set aside the first and the best, acknowledging our dependence on You in every aspect of our lives. In this year of tithing, may we consider what it means to bring forth Your bounty not only for our own consumption but to share abundantly with those in need. Help us overcome any reluctance that may dwell within our hearts, recognizing that it is in giving that we truly find joy.
Father, You call us to remember the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow. These are the vulnerable among us, those whom society often overlooks. Open our eyes to the needs around us. Help us to see beyond our own comforts and desires and be moved with compassion for those who struggle. Let us be channels of Your love and provision. May the tithes we offer be a means by which others are nourished and cared for, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
We pray for the Levites, those who dedicate their lives to serving You and Your people. Support them, O Lord, with the provision they need to minister effectively. We ask that You bless them abundantly as they pour out their lives in service, and may our tithes foster their strength and encouragement.
We lift up the strangers—those who may feel isolated or alienated within our communities. May our offerings create a welcoming atmosphere, where all may find a place of belonging within Your embrace. Help us, Lord, to extend our hand in kindness, to those who are different from us, so that they may experience Your love through our actions.
We bring before You the fatherless, those who lack the protection and love a father provides. You are the Father to the fatherless; may we take it upon ourselves to embody Your love and care for these children. Let our generosity flow into their lives through mentorship, support, and prayer. Build a community that watches over them, ensuring they know they are never alone.
Finally, Lord, we remember the widows. Touch their hearts, soothe their sorrows, and fill their lives with Your peace. May our contributions not only meet their physical needs but also remind them of the love that surrounds them. Let our kindness be a testimony of Your unwavering presence through life's trials.
As we commit our tithes to You and to those in need, let it glorify Your name and fulfill the mission we have as Your body on earth. Teach us to give not just out of obligation but with hearts filled with the joy of sharing in the abundance You have provided. May our offerings be a testament of our love for You and our love for others.
In these moments, we express not only our actions but our very hearts to You, trusting You to bless and multiply our gifts. Guide us as we strive to live out this commandment in loving service to all.
In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
