A Prayer for Deliverance from Pride and Unbelief

"Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all." - Daniel 11:37

"Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all." - Daniel 11:{verse.verse_number}

O Lord, our Everlasting God,

We come before You today with hearts humble and bowed, seeking Your face and wisdom as we reflect on the teachings found in Your Holy Scriptures. We acknowledge Your greatness, Your mercy, and Your power as we meditate upon the words of Daniel 11:37, where the prophetic message warns us of the peril of pride and the tragic consequences of disregarding You: "Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all."

Heavenly Father, You are the Creator of the heavens and the earth, who formed humankind in Your own image. We recognize that we are often tempted by the allure of self-magnification, of elevating our own desires above Your divine will. We pray for deliverance from the spirit of pride that can take root in our hearts, leading us away from the paths of righteousness. Teach us, O Lord, to bring every thought, every ambition, and every desire captive to Christ.

In the face of such arrogance, we lament the choices made by those who seek to elevate themselves above You, forsaking the God of their fathers, turning away from established truths, and embracing a life devoid of reverence. Lord, help us to learn from their folly, that we may not repeat history’s mistakes; help us to heed Your warnings. Instill in us a desire to honor our heritage and faith - to regard the principles passed down through generations and to live in a manner that glorifies Your name.

We pray, Father, for those individuals who, like the one described in Daniel, choose to disregard the sacred bonds of family and community. May they find their hearts softened and their eyes opened to the truth. We ask that Your Spirit would stir within them a longing for reconciliation with You and with those whom they have alienated. May they come to know that true fulfillment lies not in self-service but in selflessness—reflecting Your love and compassion toward others.

Lord, as we see the trials of today's society, it is all too evident that many are governed by desires that lead them away from Your commandments. Turn our hearts, O God, back to You; may we not seek satisfaction in fleeting pleasures, but rather in a deeper relationship with You, founded upon reliance on Your strengths rather than our own. Help us to approach each day with the humility that acknowledges our need for Your grace.

We lift up to You our leaders and influencers, those who have great platforms and power, praying that they may act with wisdom and integrity. Guard their hearts against the arrogance that comes with power, for we know that true leadership lies not in magnifying oneself but in serving others with love and sacrifice. Surround them with wise counsel, and guide them as they make decisions that impact our world.

As we reflect upon this scripture, we implore You to cultivate within us a spirit of meekness, a posture of servanthood. Remind us that true greatness in Your kingdom is found in our willingness to serve one another and to lay down our lives as You did, Jesus. Help us to magnify You above all else, knowing that in lifting You high, we are drawn closer to our truest selves.

In Your mercy, Lord, grant us the wisdom to navigate the temptations of pride, self-centeredness, and neglect. May we accomplish what is good in Your sight and strive to live lives that honor You, our God and Savior, both now and forever.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
