Yet, we know, dear Lord, that those who bear this mantle of leadership may face hardship. The passage reminds us that they shall fall by the sword, by flame, by captivity, and by spoil. We pray for those who endure persecution for the sake of righteousness. We lift up our brothers and sisters around the world who risk their lives to proclaim Your name, who stand valiantly against the tide of injustice, and who face imprisonment, violence, and even death for their faith.

In these trials, Lord, we ask for Your divine protection. Surround them with Your angels and grant them peace that surpasses all understanding.
