A Prayer for Liberation from Bitterness and Iniquity
"For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity." - Acts 8:23

Heavenly Father,
In the quiet moments of this day, I come before You with a heart that longs for purity and freedom. As I reflect on the truth of Your Word, particularly Acts 8:23, where it says, "For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity," I am reminded of the deep ramifications that bitterness and iniquity can have in our lives. Lord, You see all things, and nothing is hidden from Your sight. You know the struggles I face, the feelings of resentment that occasionally take root in my heart, and the iniquities that ensnare me.
Father, I recognize that bitterness is not just a mere feeling; it is a poison that seeps into my soul, affecting my relationships, my peace, and my understanding of Your infinite grace. Just as Simon was warned by Peter, I too acknowledge the times when I have been trapped in the gall of bitterness, when my thoughts have strayed to unforgiveness, and when my heart has harbored ill will toward others. Lord, I confess these moments before You now and ask for Your help in overcoming them.
Cleanse me, O Lord! Purify my heart with the precious blood of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who died to set me free from every chain that binds me. I desire to release the heavy burden of bitterness that I have carried. Strip away the dark shadows of past hurts and disappointments that loom over my spirit. Help me to recognize that just as I have received Your forgiveness, I too must extend forgiveness to those who have wronged me. Teach me that by holding onto bitterness, I only imprison myself further, rather than finding solace or vindication.
In this moment of prayer, I plead for Your divine intervention. Break the bonds that iniquity has constructed in my life. Lead me away from paths that indulge the flesh and toward the way of righteousness. Let me not be ensnared by sin, but instead be filled with the truth and light of Your Word. Remind me daily that I am called to a higher purpose, one that transcends individual grievances and worldly injustices. Help me remind myself that even as I experience pain and hurt, I can be an instrument of Your peace and grace.
Lord, fill my heart with the Holy Spirit, for it is only by His power that I can conquer the stronghold of bitterness. May He guide me away from destructive thoughts and replace them with love, compassion, and understanding. Let me focus on the good—on the ways You have worked in my life, Your blessings that abound, and the love You continually show me. Transform my heart so that I become a vessel of Your goodness and mercy rather than an echo of bitterness.
I pray for those whom I find difficult to forgive. They too are in need of Your grace, and in the grand tapestry of Your creation, instead of seeing enemies, I wish to see brothers and sisters wandering in the darkness. May Your love consume my heart so fully that I can look upon them with compassion, as You do.
As I endeavor to walk through this journey of healing, guide my steps, O Lord. Help me to surround myself with supportive and loving individuals who encourage me to pursue a life free from the gall of bitterness and iniquity. I release my grip on past pain and embrace the new life You offer me—a life of hope, healing, and wholeness.
Thank You for hearing my prayer, Father. I trust in Your mighty power to change my heart and to renew my mind. May Your will be done in my life, leading me into a brighter future filled with Your love and grace.
In Jesus’ name, I pray,
Amen.
