I acknowledge that there is so much I do not comprehend about You and Your workings. The story of Simon the sorcerer is a stark warning for my heart, and I ask that You illuminate my understanding of what it means to genuinely pursue the gifts of the Spirit.

Lord, Simon’s desire to possess the power of the Holy Ghost for monetary gain reflects a heart that craves influence and recognition. I recognize that within me there may be shadows of such desires—a longing for approval, for material gain, or for a semblance of control over spiritual things. I pray, Father, that You help me to root out any ounce of pride or ambition that seeks to commercialize what is holy. Your gifts are not for sale; they are to be received with humility and gratitude. May I never lose sight of the tremendous cost of the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus Christ, and the grace of His resurrection, which makes accessible the very power from on high.

In my life, Lord, I pray for a spirit of humility. Teach me to approach spiritual gifts—not as tools for my own enhancement or glory—but as opportunities to serve, uplift, and encourage others in their faith journeys. I ask that the Holy Spirit work within me to develop my character and to refine my motives day by day.
