A Prayer of Exaltation and Submission
"Then said Joab to Cushi, Go tell the king what thou hast seen. And Cushi bowed himself unto Joab, and ran." - 2 Samuel 18:21

O Lord God of Heaven and Earth,
We come before Your throne today, humbled by Your greatness and enveloped in awe of Your power and sovereignty. As we reflect on the profound moment captured in 2 Samuel 18:21, where Joab commands Cushi to go forth and deliver vital news to King David, we are reminded of the importance of obedience, courage, and the duty entrusted to us in our service to You and to others. We bow our hearts and our minds in solemn prayer, seeking to align ourselves with Your will and purpose as Cushi did, ready to heed our divine calling.
Heavenly Father, I pray for the boldness to step forward when called, just like Cushi. Help us, Lord, to recognize the times when You ask us to take action, to speak truth, and to carry messages of hope and deliverance. Let our ears be attuned to Your voice, that we may not be slow to respond. Just as Cushi bowed himself before Joab and ran swiftly to fulfill the task given to him, impart in us the heartbeat of urgency and reverence in our service to You. May we not hesitate but run toward the challenges and calling that You place upon our lives with utmost faithfulness.
Lord, as Cushi was chosen for a significant task amidst a time of turmoil in David’s kingdom, I ask that You raise up mighty messengers in our time, O God. Equip Your servants with the wisdom and knowledge needed to communicate Your truth boldly and effectively. Where confusion reigns, ignite clarity in our hearts and minds, and may we proclaim the good news of Your love and grace without reservation.
In times of darkness, Lord, help us to shine like lights, illuminating the path for those who are lost. May the spirit of courage flow through us, as we speak out against injustice, lend a helping hand to those suffering, and convey hope to the weary. Let our actions reflect the love of Christ, as we endeavor to deliver the messages You have laid upon our hearts. Just as Cushi ran to deliver the message, may we also be ready to deliver peace to those in conflict, comfort to those in sorrow, and encouragement to those who have lost their way.
Oh, Almighty God, let us be reminded that our journeys may not be easy and the paths we choose to take may be fraught with challenges, just as Cushi may have encountered adversities on his route to the king. Yet, through Your strength, we can face every storm and strive onward. Fill us with Your spirit that our resolve may be as firm as David's confidence in You. Grant us the endurance that we need to push past our fears and anxieties as we embark upon the missions You give us.
As we pray, I ask for a spirit of humility to rest upon us. Help us to always bow before You, recognizing our place as Your vessels. In serving others, let us never seek glory for ourselves but instead seek to glorify You through each act of service. Teach us to take pleasure in the execution of our duties, as Cushi did, for we know that in being faithful with little, we are entrusted with much.
Finally, I pray that all we do may lead not only to the fulfillment of the task at hand but also to the edification of the body of Christ. In running our race, may we inspire others to come forward and take part in this great work of spreading the Gospel. Let us echo the heart of Cushi with each stride, running not just for ourselves but for the kingdom of God.
In the Holy and matchless name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
