A Prayer for Generosity and Dedication in Service to God
"¶ And Jehoash said to the priests, All the money of the dedicated things that is brought into the house of the LORD, even the money of every one that passeth the account, the money that every man is set at, and all the money that cometh into any man's heart to bring into the house of the LORD," - 2 Kings 12:4

O Holy and Sovereign Lord,
In reverence and humility, we approach Your throne of grace today, inspired by the words found in 2 Kings 12:4: "And Jehoash said to the priests, All the money of the dedicated things that is brought into the house of the LORD, even the money of every one that passeth the account, the money that every man is set at, and all the money that cometh into any man's heart to bring into the house of the LORD." Lord, we come before You to acknowledge Your abundant provision and to express our heartfelt desire to contribute to Your work in this world.
Father, we recognize that every good and perfect gift comes from You. As we reflect on the biblical principle demonstrated by Jehoash, we want to be dutiful stewards of the resources, time, and talents You have placed in our care. Help us to understand that our possessions and our wealth are not merely for our own comfort and gain, but they are instruments of service for the Kingdom. Grant us a spirit of generosity that mirrors the willingness of the people in Your service during the time of Jehoash, who brought their offerings with gladness.
Lord, help us to examine our own hearts today. Are we keeping our treasures tightly clenched in our hands, or are we willingly offering them back to You? May we be inspired by Jehoash, who directed the collected resources for the repair of Your house, the Temple—a place set apart for worship and dedication to You. Like him, may we recognize the importance of maintaining our churches and communities as sanctuaries for Your presence to dwell among us.
O God, grant us the understanding that every contribution, whether large or small, is significant when it is given in love and faith. Teach us to give not just out of our abundance, but also from our need, knowing that You bless also the willingness of our hearts to share. When we give, may it be a reflection of our gratitude for what You have done in our lives and are continuing to do. Inspire us to think creatively about how we can contribute to the sharing of Your love and the furtherance of Your Kingdom.
Lord, may the call of Jehoash resonate within us today. May we hear Your voice and respond with an open heart, ready to bring forth our offerings—be they financial resources, time spent in service, or acts of love and kindness toward others. We ask that You would also touch the hearts of those who may be hesitant to give. Replace their fear with trust in Your provision, knowing that You are our ultimate source of security.
Holy Spirit, move within us as a community. Help us to prepare our thoughts and intentions before we present our offerings. As we dedicate the resources brought into Your house, we ask that You multiply them for Your glory. Let our collective efforts contribute to the shaping of lives, the restoration of hope, and the building of Your Kingdom, both locally and globally.
May our giving also inspire others to give. Let those who observe our generosity recognize Your abundant goodness and feel compelled to join in the work we do for Your name’s sake. Let our financial contributions be used wisely, bringing glory to You and blessings to others. And Lord, as we watch these contributions flow into the work of the church, may it lead to spiritual growth, healing, and transformation in our lives and in the lives of those we touch.
Heavenly Father, we pray that together we may commit our paths and resources to You. We dedicate ourselves, our offerings, and our service to You, trusting that You will guide and multiply our efforts for Your plans and purpose. May we serve You with joy and be faithful in our commitment to the work You have called us to, as we aim to uplift the name of Jesus in everything we do.
In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray,
Amen.
