A Prayer for Divine Forgiveness and Healing
"Sure, here is the requested verse, 2 Chronicles 30:18-20: 18 For a multitude of the people, even many of Ephraim, and Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet did they eat the passover otherwise than it is written. But Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, The good LORD pardon everyone 19 That prepareth his heart to seek God, the LORD God of his fathers, though he be not cleansed according to the purification of the sanctuary. 20 And the LORD hearkened to Hezekiah, and healed the people." - 2 Chronicles 30:18-20

O Lord God of our fathers, we come before You with humbled hearts in reverence and awe of Your magnificent grace. As we reflect upon the words of 2 Chronicles 30:18-20, we are reminded of the depths of Your mercy and the power of sincere prayer. Our hearts are heavy with the knowledge that we oftentimes fall short of the standards You have set before us; yet, You continuously extend Your hand of compassion towards us.
In the days of Hezekiah, a multitude of the people—many from Ephraim, Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun—approached the Passover failing to cleanse themselves according to the purification laws. They yearned to partake in the feast, to renew their covenant with You, Lord, but were not fully prepared in body or spirit. We too, O God, confess that there are moments in our lives when we desire to seek You wholeheartedly, yet our own inadequacies cloud our approach. We may come with unclean hands or impure hearts, longing for Your presence yet falling short in our preparations.
Heavenly Father, we echo the prayer of King Hezekiah, who interceded on behalf of these people, showing them that it is the readiness of the heart that You seek. "The good LORD pardon everyone that prepareth his heart to seek God, the LORD God of his fathers, though he be not cleansed according to the purification of the sanctuary." With this truth, we beseech You today, Lord, to search our hearts.
Pardon us, gracious God, for the times we have pursued You without genuine intent. Forgive us for the distractions that have kept us from fully engaging in our relationship with You. We long to prepare our hearts, to seek You diligently and to embrace the fullness of the life You offer us. Like those who gathered during Hezekiah’s reign, we desire to find our place at Your table, to partake in the blessings of communion with You.
In this moment, we lay our burdens and failings before You. We are painfully aware of our shortcomings, aware that our actions have not always aligned with Your will. However, as we take courage from Your Word, we declare that no one is beyond Your reach. You see our sincere desire to pursue You, Lord, despite our imperfections. We pray that, through our earnest longing, we may be purified in spirit, receiving Your loving kindness, and being washed clean by Your grace.
Lord, we thank You for the promise that You hearken to the voice of those who seek You. Even as the people of Israel found healing and wholeness through King Hezekiah’s prayer, so we too, desire to experience Your healing touch. Heal us of our spiritual ailments, O Lord. Heal the wounds of division, strife, and doubt that linger within us and among our communities.
May Your restoration flow through us, that we may rejoice in Your goodness and share the testimony of Your healing power with others. Let Your healing extend to our families, our friends, and our communities. O Father, we long to reflect Your love and compassion in all we do.
As we lift our prayers toward You, let our hearts be forever aligned with Your purpose. May we prepare ourselves not just for today but each day that lies ahead, seeking You with all that we are. Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayers and for the promise of restoration. We leave these petitions in Your loving hands, confident that You will work all things according to Your will.
In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray, Amen.
