Heavenly Father,

We come before You with humble hearts, seeking Your guidance and wisdom in our lives as we reflect upon the admonition found in 2 Chronicles 22:4, "Wherefore he did evil in the sight of the LORD like the house of Ahab: for they were his counsellors after the death of his father to his destruction." Lord, we recognize the profound importance of the choices we make and the influences we allow in our lives, especially in moments of leadership and authority.

Gracious God, in this verse, we see presented to us the sobering truth of how poor choices made from misleading counsel can lead to destruction. It is a stark reminder that the legacy and decisions of the generations before us can significantly influence our own paths. Lord, just as the king in this passage relied on the counsel of those who had strayed from Your ways, we ask that You help us to discern the voices we choose to listen to in our day-to-day lives.

Lord, let us be vigilant in surrounding ourselves with wise and godly advisors, those who will encourage us toward righteousness and who love You with their whole hearts. May they be individuals who seek to lead us closer to You and to the truth of Your word, rather than draw us into paths of unrighteousness.

This brings us to our daily prayers for wisdom in leadership. Fill our hearts with the desire to seek counsel from those who fear You, O God. We acknowledge that even well-intentioned friends can sometimes lead us astray when they are not anchored in Your truth. Help us to seek your loving guidance in all our decisions, remembering that true wisdom is found in revering You, as stated in Proverbs 9:10.

Father, we ask that You reveal to us if there are any bad influences in our lives similar to those whom the young king took counsel from—those who could lead us toward evil and away from Your righteous path. Guide us to be strong and courageous in resisting those voices that whisper destruction after we have known of Your greatness. Give us clarity and discernment to identify and distance ourselves from those who might lead us down paths contrary to Your will.

May we take heed of the consequences that follow when we allow the wrong influences to sway our decisions—destruction that can ensue when we abandon our commitment to You in favor of the world’s temptations. Help us, Lord, to learn from the example of those who have gone before us and fallen into the traps of deceit, corrupt counsel, and ungodly leadership.

We pray for our leaders, not only in government but in families, communities, and churches, that they may seek You in their decisions and be surrounded by wise counsel. Raise up godly individuals to stand beside them, those who will not lead them astray, but will instead encourage them to pursue righteousness, justice, and truth in every endeavor.

O Lord, let our lives be a testament to the wisdom found in following You, adhering to Your commandments, and having faith in Your plans. Help us to not only be cautious of whom we trust for counsel but also assist us in becoming a source of light and wisdom for others. May our lives serve as a guide to those around us, encouraging them to seek You wholeheartedly.

In all these things, we place our trust in You, the omniscient God who desires our obedience and love. We pray, in the name of Your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ, who exemplified the perfect counsel, wisdom, and authority, that we will honor You in all aspects of our leadership and daily lives. Amen.
