A Prayer for Righteous Counsel and Divine Guidance
"He also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab: for his mother was his counsellor to do wickedly." - 2 Chronicles 22:3

Heavenly Father,
As I stand in Your presence today, I come before You with a heart yearning for understanding and wisdom. Lord, Your Word, as shared in 2 Chronicles 22:3, warns us of the influence and counsel that shapes our actions and decisions, stating, "He also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab: for his mother was his counsellor to do wickedly." I reflect upon this passage and recognize the profound impact that those close to us can have on our choices.
Lord, I seek Your guidance in my life. Allow me to discern the voices around me—those who may lead me towards righteousness or those who may pull me into wicked ways. Just as the young king was led astray by the counsel of his mother, I too can be swayed by the influences that surround me. Help me to identify whether these influences direct me toward Your light or draw me nearer to darkness.
Father, I pray for those who counsel me in my life. Grant them wisdom rooted in Your truth. May they be guided by Your Spirit in their interactions with me and others. If any are inclined toward counsel that leads away from Your commandments, I ask that You intervene and redirect their hearts. Surround me with godly mentors who reflect Your goodness and grace, and who will encourage me to seek Your will in all things.
Lord, I also recognize the responsibility I bear in my influence on others, especially those who look to me for guidance. Help me to embody the qualities of a faithful witness, leading others towards Your righteousness and away from the snares of deceit and wickedness. May my life serve as a beacon of hope and a reflection of Your love and truth. I do not want to follow in the footsteps of Ahab or allow those around me to drift into moral compromise because of my actions.
Heavenly Father, I ask for discernment to recognize both wise counsel and the deceptive guidance that may seem appealing but is rooted in evil. Open my eyes to the truth, and foster in me an unwavering commitment to Your ways. Teach me to lean not on my understanding but to acknowledge You in all my paths so that You may guide my steps along the path of righteousness.
As I navigate the relationships and decisions in my life, instill in me the courage to stand firm against the values of the world that contradict Your teachings. May I always seek to be aligned with Your Word, rejecting any counsel that leads me to stray from the path You have set before me. Let my heart burn with the desire for holiness and righteousness, so that I may be a reflection of Christ in all that I do.
I lift up my heart in gratitude for the good influences You have placed in my life. Thank You for providing friends, family, leaders, and mentors who guide me toward greater faithfulness and integrity. May I always appreciate their wisdom and strive to be a source of encouragement to them as well.
Lastly, Lord, I pray that You would pour out Your Spirit upon our communities, a spirit of righteousness that turns hearts away from wickedness. Let Your truth reign in our decisions and our relationships. Bring forth leaders in our families and nations who will lead with integrity and wisdom grounded in Your Word. May we collectively reject the ways of the world, choosing instead to walk in the paths of righteousness set forth by You.
In Your Holy Name, I pray. Amen.
