Heavenly Father,

We bow humbly before You, acknowledging Your greatness and sovereignty. As we come into Your presence, we reflect on the words of 2 Chronicles 18:4, where Jehoshaphat spoke with earnestness to the king of Israel, saying, "Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD to day." Lord, we embrace this sentiment, recognizing the importance of seeking Your counsel in every decision we face.

O God, source of all wisdom, we find ourselves in a world filled with choices, challenges, and uncertainty. Much like Jehoshaphat, we realize that true guidance can only be found in Your Word and through earnest prayer. We humbly ask that You grant us the grace to seek You diligently, to desire wholeheartedly Your will in our lives.

Lord, we pray for the strength, the courage, and the humility to admit when we do not know the way forward. Help us to echo Jehoshaphat’s sentiment and prioritize our relationship with You above all earthly matters. We recognize that when we look to You, the path becomes clear, and our worries can dissipate like mist before the rising sun.

Father, may Your Holy Spirit guide us to set aside our own understanding and embrace the wisdom that comes from You. In every decision we encounter—be it in personal relationships, our careers, or in the many responsibilities we carry—we seek to inquire at Your feet, just as Jehoshaphat implored the king. Keep us from the folly of relying solely on the counsel of man, which may lead us astray. Instead, let our hearts yearn for Your voice in prayer and scripture.

We ask for discernment in understanding Your Word, as it shines a light upon our path. Teach us, Lord, to be diligent in our studies so we can be equipped when faced with choices that require Your counsel. May Your Word be our handbook for life, guiding and correcting us so that we may walk righteously before You. We declare that we will not lean on our own understanding, but will acknowledge You in all our ways, trusting You to direct our paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Heavenly Father, we also pray for unity, much like that between Jehoshaphat and the king of Israel. Guide us to seek the advice of those filled with Your spirit, those who prioritize Your wisdom over personal ambition. May we surround ourselves with godly counsel, recognizing how the collective prayers and insights of believers can be a source of strength and clarity.

We are reminded, Lord, that there are decisions which may affect not only ourselves but those around us. Grant us the vision to see beyond our immediate circumstances, considering how our actions may impact our families, our communities, and our nations. Just as Jehoshaphat was willing to inquire of You in a time of alliance, help us to be discerning in our relationships, ensuring that they reflect Your love and truth.

God, bring us into a posture of humility and expectation as we approach You. Let us not be casual or complacent when we come to seek Your guidance. Rather, may we come with hearts full of reverence and surrender. We trust that when we inquire at Your Word, we do so with the assurance that You hear our prayers and are faithful to respond.

In all things, Lord, we desire Your glory to shine through our lives as we follow Your lead. Let each inquiry point us closer to You and strengthen our faith in Your unfailing love. We thank You for always being present to hear and guide us. Now, may we apply the lessons from Jehoshaphat's life to ensure we make it a habit to inquire of You daily. In Jesus' name, we pray.
