Heavenly Father,

We come before Thee today with humble hearts, seeking wisdom and guidance in our lives, as King Rehoboam once sought counsel from the wise men who served alongside his father, Solomon. In 2 Chronicles 10:6, we read, "And king Rehoboam took counsel with the old men that had stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, saying, What counsel give ye me to return answer to this people?"

Lord, just as Rehoboam sought direction on how to lead his kingdom, we desire the same in our own lives and decisions. We recognize that true wisdom does not only come from our own understanding but is rooted in reflecting on the experiences and insights of those who have walked the path before us.

Help us, O God, to seek out those who hold wisdom and understanding, acting as an echo of the sagacity we find in our elders and mentors. We pray that You would surround us with wise counsel, people adept in their experiences that we might learn from their journeys. Like Rehoboam, we seek to be discerning, asking, "What counsel shall we give in our responses?"

Lord, grant us ears to listen intently. When we approach those we admire for their wisdom, help us to approach with open hearts, ready to absorb the lessons they impart. We confess, Father, that in a world laden with noise and distractions, we sometimes rush to make decisions, yielding to our impulses rather than resting patiently in the quiet spaces where Your voice speaks through the wisdom of others.

Build within us the humility to recognize that we do not know everything and that asking for help is not a sign of weakness but a hallmark of strength coupled with wisdom. Father, teach us that in our inquiry lies a pathway to deeper understanding. May we never shy away from seeking guidance and insight from those who have gone before us, and may we hold dear the truth that Your wisdom shines through them.

As we ponder the counsel we receive, help us also to be discerning about its value and relevance to our current trials and endeavors. We pray that through prayer, reflection, and study of Your Word, we may find clarity in our decision-making. Let us take time to evaluate the words spoken to us and sift them through the truth of Scripture, girding ourselves with the understanding that not all counsel will be wise, nor all advice worth heeding.

Help us to emulate King Solomon in his pursuit of true wisdom—help us to seek first Your kingdom, trusting that all these things will be added unto us. May we crave Your wisdom more than gold and treasure, knowing that in doing so we find the best direction in our lives.

Father, inspire us to be wise mentors ourselves. As we gather experiences and lessons from our trials, may we be moved to share this knowledge with others seeking learning and direction. Let us live in a way that honors the legacy of wisdom passed down to us, acting as guides to the young and those seeking direction.

Above all, Lord, let our counsel be rooted in love and understanding. Help us to speak with grace, ensuring our hearts remain aligned with Your commands and that our responses reflect Your light.

May we always be reminded that without Your guidance, all our endeavors are in vain. We place our trust in You as the ultimate source of wisdom, recognizing that true counsel comes from You alone. Thank You for the gift of wise advisors in our lives, and may we always seek Your grace and understanding.
