Heavenly Father,

In this moment of prayer, we come before You with deep reverence and a heart yearning for wisdom, especially as we reflect on the account of King Rehoboam found in 2 Chronicles 10:13, "And the king answered them roughly; and king Rehoboam forsook the counsel of the old men." Lord, I ask that You guide us as we meditate on the consequences of Rehoboam’s decision.

Gracious God, we acknowledge that there are times when we, like Rehoboam, must make decisions that impact not just our own lives, but the lives of those around us. We recognize that the choices made in times of trial can shape our destiny and the legacy we leave behind. With humility, I lay my heart before You, seeking clarity and understanding.

Father, grant us the humility to listen to wise counsel. Let us not be so quick to cast aside the knowledge harvested from years of experience, but let us approach such counsel with a spirit of reverence.

Lord, instill in us a spirit of discernment that we might recognize the voices that speak truth into our lives. In this age where opinions are plentiful yet often misguided, help us to filter through the noise and seek Your truth above all. Teach us to discern which counsel aligns with Your Word and reflects Your will for our lives, as we remember Proverbs 19:20, "Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end."

As we reflect on the choices that Rehoboam made, we are reminded of the profound impact leadership has not only on oneself but on communities and nations. Lord, we pray that You empower our leaders—whether in our families, churches, or governments—with wisdom and integrity.
