A Prayer for Divine Encounter and Transformation
"And he stripped off his clothes also, and prophesied before Samuel in like manner, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Wherefore they say, Is Saul also among the prophets?" - 1 Samuel 19:24

O Lord Most High,
I come before You today, humbly seeking Your presence and guidance. As I reflect on the account of Saul in 1 Samuel 19:24, where it is written, "And he stripped off his clothes also, and prophesied before Samuel in like manner, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Wherefore they say, Is Saul also among the prophets?" I am struck by the intensity of Your Spirit that can lead even the most unlikely of individuals into moments of divine revelation and transformation.
Father, I thank You that Your mercy transcends our understandings of who we are, and Who You are capable of shaping us to be. Just as You brought Saul, a king troubled by the weight of his own decisions and sin, into a place where he could prophesy before the prophet Samuel, I ask that You would usher me into such an encounter with You. I long to be stripped of the burdens that hinder my worship and to be filled anew with Your spirit.
Lord, I acknowledge that stripping away the layers of pretense and pride is not easy and often requires a willingness to be vulnerable. Teach me, O God, to willingly lay down my defenses before You. Just as Saul laid aside his royal garments, I come before You unclothed of my own self-sufficiency and pretense, begging You to fill me with the purity of Your Spirit. Help me let go of all that hinders my relationship with You—my fears, my doubts, my sins, and my pride.
I pray for a fresh anointing upon my life like what Saul experienced in that moment. Fill me with Your Spirit, Lord, and allow me to prophesy Your truth, proclaim Your glory, and declare Your goodness to those around me. May I not merely be seen as a follower or a believer, but as one who carries Your message, one who speaks Your words with authority and conviction. O God, do a mighty work in me!
In periods when I feel lost or confused, remind me that even people like Saul can have encounters that lead to transformative experiences. Let this encourage my spirit; teach me to lean into Your Word, to prophesy not only in speech but in action. Lord, let every area of my life reflect Your light and love.
I pray for humility throughout this process. Lord, may I never lead others to question Your sovereignty over my life but instead inspire them to desire a closer walk with You. Just as the people wondered if Saul could truly be among the prophets, let my life be so transformed that people may see the evidence of Your work in me and question, "Is this person truly walking with God?"
Help me surrender my ambitions, dreams, and even my identity wholly into Your hands. Let me lie down before You as Saul did, resting in the knowledge that You are at work in me and through me, even in silence. I trust that in this sacred stillness, You are preparing me for a purpose greater than myself.
As I lay my heart bare before You, may I be forever changed, molded by Your hands, and equipped for every good work You have planned for me. Let Your Spirit guide me in all things, and may Your will be done in my life. I ask you, Lord, to remove anything in me that would obstruct the free flow of Your Spirit and grant me the grace to align my life with Your mission.
In Jesus’ name, I pray, trusting that each moment spent in Your presence brings me closer to the transformation I seek. Amen.
