O Gracious and Everlasting God,

We come before You today, with hearts full of gratitude for the gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ, our Cornerstone. In 1 Peter 2:7-8, Your Word reminds us that "Unto you therefore which believe he is precious." We thank You for the preciousness of Christ, for without Him, we would be lost in darkness and despair. You have opened our eyes to see His beauty, His love, and His grace; we deeply appreciate the salvation and eternal life that comes through faith in Him.

Lord, truly, Jesus is precious to us—not just a stone among many, but the chief cornerstone of our faith and the foundation upon which we build our lives. We acknowledge that in a world filled with struggles and uncertainties, He provides us with unwavering strength, hope, and direction. Help us, O Lord, to continually recognize His value in our lives, to treasure the intimate relationship we have with Him, and to embrace the fullness of joy and peace that comes from being rooted in His love.

Yet, we are reminded of the others who do not believe, who see Him as "the stone which the builders disallowed." We pray for those who stumble at the word and who have not yet experienced the majesty and preciousness of Christ. O Lord, grant them eyes to see and ears to hear, that they may turn from disobedience and embrace the truth of Your Gospel. Open their hearts to receive the lifeline You offer through Your Son. We intercede for them, asking for Your merciful hand to guide them toward understanding and acceptance.

We know that Jesus is not just precious to us, but a "rock of offence" to many who resist Your will. His message often challenges the status quo, shattering misconceptions and prejudices that bind hearts in darkness. Give us courage, Lord, to stand firm in our faith, even as we encounter misunderstanding and hostility in a world that often rejects Your truth. Help us to respond with love and not judgement, to offer compassion to those who struggle with the message of the Gospel, trusting that You will work in their hearts.

As believers, we are aware that stumbling at Your word is a path of destruction. We ask, Lord, that we be steadfast in following You, that our lives reflect the light of Christ in all we do. Help us to stay grounded in Your Word, to study it diligently, and to live it out each day in genuine obedience to Your will. May our lives be a testament to the wonder of having found our hope in You. Strengthen our walks with You so that we may not only claim to believe in the preciousness of Christ but live it out boldly for others to see.

And if there are aspects within ourselves where we falter, where our hearts may grow cold or our faith waver, we plead for Your spirit to work mightily within us, renewing our minds and setting our hearts ablaze with love for You. Let us never forget what it cost the Savior to become the head of the corner for us, a truth that humbles and encourages us.

In all of this, Lord, we recognize Your sovereignty in our lives. We trust that for those who stumble, it is not by accident, for "they were appointed" to stumble at His word. In Your divine plan, orchestrate moments of revelation and encounters that lead individuals back to You. May we be vessels of Your grace, reflecting Your compassion and love in a world desperate for hope.

In closing, we praise You, Lord, for the preciousness of Christ, for the hope we have in Him, and for the love that surpasses all understanding. We commit ourselves to serve and reflect His light to a world that desperately needs it. We ask all these things in the precious name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
