A Prayer for Wisdom and Strength in Our Labor

"And Solomon had threescore and ten thousand that bare burdens, and fourscore thousand hewers in the mountains;" - 1 Kings 5:15

"And Solomon had threescore and ten thousand that bare burdens, and fourscore thousand hewers in the mountains;" - 1 Kings 5:{verse.verse_number}

Heavenly Father,

As I come before You today, I am reminded of the words written in 1 Kings 5:15: "And Solomon had threescore and ten thousand that bare burdens, and fourscore thousand hewers in the mountains." I pause to reflect on the great endeavor that was set before King Solomon, a monumental task requiring an extraordinary amount of labor and commitment. Lord, You ordained Solomon with wisdom beyond measure, and through this wisdom, he assembled thousands of laborers to accomplish the construction of Your glorious temple. Today, I seek that very same wisdom and strength as I face the tasks and responsibilities set before me.

Oh Lord, I acknowledge that every endeavor I undertake requires Your guidance. Just as Solomon gathered those who would bear burdens and those skilled in labor, I recognize the importance of a united effort when working towards a noble goal. Help me understand the value of collaboration and the benefits of communal labor. Please bring into my life those who are skilled and willing to join hands with me to build something beautiful for Your kingdom. Lord, I pray for partnership in my endeavors, for often I recognize my limitations, and I see the need to lean on my brothers and sisters in Christ.

Father, grant me the discernment to lead effectively, just as Solomon led his workers with wisdom. I ask for the ability to inspire others, to rally them towards the vision You place in my heart. May my words be filled with purpose, and may I encourage others by showcasing their strengths. Teach me how to delegate tasks wisely, showing confidence in their abilities while guiding them towards our shared objectives. Lord, instill in me the resilience to bear burdens—both mine and those of others. May I be a source of strength and encouragement in the lives of my family, friends, and community.

As I meditate upon this verse, I realize that the work ahead can feel overwhelming at times. The threescore and ten thousand who bore burdens worked tirelessly under the sun, and the fourscore thousand who hewed stones in the mountains did so with diligence and grit. Lord, in my own life, help me to embrace the hard work involved in my calling. Cultivate within me a spirit that finds joy in labor, knowing that it is done unto You, and for purposes far greater than myself. May I commit my work to You, so that my plans may be established as promised in Proverbs 16:3.

Help me also recognize that every labor, no matter how small, is of importance in Your kingdom. The tasks that I might perceive as mundane or menial are indeed part of a divine mosaic You are crafting. Allow me to approach each task with an attitude of reverence—seeing it as a step towards honoring You and contributing to the greater good.

Lord, remind me that the strength to bear burdens and the skill to labor does not come from my own resources, but from You alone. May I lean on You in moments of fatigue, knowing that Your strength is made perfect in my weakness. Let my heart seek not my own glory, but the glory of Your name.

As I endeavor to fulfill Your calling for my life, I pray for the spirit of perseverance to remain steadfast, just as those who worked alongside Solomon did. May I find camaraderie in labor and celebrate the victories—big and small—with those I work alongside. Help me to cultivate an atmosphere where appreciation and encouragement abound.

Thank you, Lord, for the example of Solomon and for the workers who answered the call to serve faithfully. Let their legacy not just inspire me but ignite a passion within my heart to do likewise.

In Jesus’ name, I pray,

Amen.
