A Prayer for Humility and Wisdom in Christ
"Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?" - 1 Corinthians 5:6

Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before your throne of grace, humbled and awestruck by your holiness and the depth of your wisdom. As we reflect on the words found in 1 Corinthians 5:6, "Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?" we recognize the warning and the call to vigilance that you have graciously placed before us. Lord, our hearts are prone to pride and self-promotion, and we acknowledge that this attitude can lead us away from the purity you desire for your Church.
Father, we ask that you reveal to us the areas in our lives where we may be harboring pride, division, or sin. Help us to see that even a little bit of leaven, a small compromise in our walk with you, can corrupt our hearts and spread throughout our community. Allow us to take this warning seriously, for we know that as a body of believers, every action, every word, and every thought has the potential to impact those around us. Guide us to root out any leaven that may be present in our lives, no matter how small it may seem.
Lord God, help us to understand the importance of maintaining your truth and integrity in our speech and conduct. Give us the strength to stand firm against the temptations that seek to pull us away from your path. May we always seek your glory rather than our own, acknowledging that it is only through you that we find true worth and identity. The world around us glorifies achievements and statuses, but we desire to be vessels of your grace, reflecting your light. May our glorying be in you, and not in ourselves.
We pray for humility, Lord. Help us to be aware of our limitations, our flaws, and our need for your mercy every single day. Let us not become arrogant in our abilities or knowledge, but let our hearts be softened to serve and to love our neighbor as ourselves. Teach us to approach one another with kindness and compassion, recognizing that we are all on this journey together, in need of your grace and forgiveness.
In the spirit of unity, remind us that we are called to bear one another's burdens and work together to cultivate holiness within the Church. As we strive to embody your teachings, help us to hold one another accountable in love, pointing each other back to you when we stray. We desire to be a community that encourages righteousness and seeks to preserve the purity of the faith we profess.
Gracious Father, let your spirit reign over our hearts and minds. May we be mindful of the influence our actions have on others, particularly those who are not yet in the faith. Help us to be witnesses of your goodness, showing the world through our lives that you are the way, the truth, and the life. Let our testimony be a clear reflection of your love, joy, and integrity.
We humbly pray for wisdom in discernment, especially when faced with difficult decisions that may affect the body of Christ. Give us the insight to see beyond our immediate desires and fears, to understand the broader implications of our choices. Do not allow a little leaven to take root in our hearts or our communities, but rather cultivate in us a hunger for purity and holiness.
Thank you, Lord, for your patience and grace. We know that as we seek you with our whole hearts, you will guide us in your ways. We love you and desire to serve you with all that we are. May our lives be a beautiful offering to you, free from the leaven of sin and pride.
In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.

Get rid of the old yeast, so that you may be a new unleavened batch—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old bread leavened with malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth."
