A Prayer for Wisdom and Discernment
"I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say." - 1 Corinthians 10:15

Heavenly Father,
As I come before You today, I am reminded of the profound words from 1 Corinthians 10:15, ‘I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say’ (KJV). Lord, I thank You for being a source of wisdom and understanding in my life. You are the Creator of all, the giver of life, and the fountain of knowledge. It is with a humble heart that I seek Your guidance and the ability to discern the truths that You present to me, both in Your Word and in the world around me.
Father, I recognize that in a world filled with noise, distractions, and conflicting messages, the ability to judge wisely and perceive what is right and wrong is more crucial than ever. Grant me the discernment to filter the wisdom shared by others through the lens of Your truth. Help me to approach every conversation and every piece of information with a mindset that seeks to glorify You.
Lord, I come before You asking for an increase in wisdom. Your Word tells us in James 1:5 that if anyone lacks wisdom, we can ask of You, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given to us. Today, I stand on that promise. Fill me with the wisdom from above, which is pure, peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated. Let it be evident in my thoughts, words, and actions.
I ask for the strength to judge rightly, to discern the signs of the times, and to identify the truth amid deception. In my daily interactions, allow me to embody the wisdom You bestow upon me, reflecting Your character and love to those around me. Teach me to listen carefully and to respond thoughtfully, always steering my focus back to Your scriptures and the truth they contain.
As I navigate through life, I know that there will be challenges and trials that may cause me to question what is true. In those moments of uncertainty, remind me to turn to You. Help me to remember that wisdom is not always found in the loudest voices or the most persuasive arguments, but often in the still, small moments when I seek Your presence and guidance through prayer and reflection.
Lord, as Your servant Paul spoke to the Corinthians, calling them to judge wisely what he said, may I also be one who encourages others to seek understanding. Use me as an instrument of Your peace and wisdom in my community, guiding others towards Your truth and love. May my life be a reflection of the truths I have received and may I be bold in sharing those truths with others, so they too can see Your light and goodness.
Help me not to grow weary in this pursuit of wisdom. Let every moment of learning and discovery strengthen my faith and deepen my relationship with You. When doubts arise, remind me of Your faithfulness and Your past providence in my life. Encourage me to seek counsel from wise, godly individuals in my life who can sharpen my understanding and help me to grow in my walk with You.
Father, help me never to forget the importance of humility in my quest for wisdom. May I always remember that true wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord. Let me submit my plans and desires before You, knowing that Your ways are higher than my ways and Your thoughts are higher than my thoughts. Lead me ever closer to You, today and every day.
In Jesus' name, I pray, believing in Your promise to teach me and guide me in understanding,
Amen.
