Lord, as we read in 1 Chronicles 4:30, "And at Bethuel, and at Hormah, and at Ziklag," we ponder what these places represent in our lives. Bethuel, the house of God, signifies the foundation of our faith where we are continually nourished. Hormah, meaning 'devoted', reminds us of our total commitment to Thee, and Ziklag, the place of refuge, calls us to seek shelter in the midst of trials. We seek to understand the essence of these places more deeply:

At Bethuel, we long to experience a deeper relationship with You, O Lord. May our lives be expressions of devotion and worship that bring honor to Your name. As we cultivate our personal and communal spaces of worship, help us to encounter Thee in profound ways. Let our prayers ascend unto Thee like sweet incense, setting our hearts ablaze with purpose. We pray for our homes to become sanctuaries, mirroring the dwelling places of Your holiness. May we be surrounded by the atmosphere of Thy presence, setting aside distractions that draw us away from communion with Thee.

We remember Hormah, the place of dedication. Lord, ignite within us a spirit of commitment that mirrors the devotion of our ancestors who walked in Your statutes. Help us to recognize the areas in our lives that need to be devoted to You, setting aside worldly pursuits that lead us astray. Permit us, O Lord, to sacrifice our desires and ambitions for the sake of advancing Your kingdom. Let our ambitions align with Your will and transform our labor into service that glorifies You.

Then, we turn to Ziklag. In times of distress, we find solace in the shelter You provide. You are our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble. We pray for those who find themselves in moments of despair and uncertainty. May they feel Thy comforting embrace, the peace that surpasses all understanding that can only come from You. Help us to be conduits of comfort, spreading Your love and support to those in need. Let us remember that even in the midst of turmoil, there lies safety under Your wings.

Father, as we consider these places and the narratives attached to them, we ask that they inspire us to step out in faith, expanding the borders of our influences and territories.
