Seeking God in His Due Order: A Prayer of Repentance and Restoration
"For because ye did it not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order." - 1 Chronicles 15:13

Heavenly Father, Lord of all creation, we come before You in humility and reverence, our hearts aching with the recognition of our missteps and shortcomings. As we meditate on the words of 1 Chronicles 15:13, which declares, "For because ye did it not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order," we are reminded of the importance of pursuing You with our whole hearts, with diligence, and according to Your divine order.
O Lord, we acknowledge that there have been times in our lives when we have sought our own path rather than following Yours. In our haste, we have often overlooked the need for alignment with Your will and ways. We repent for the moments of disobedience when we acted without consulting You first, and for the breaches that have arisen as a result. Forgive us, Father, for times we have been presumptuous, thinking we could proceed without inquiring of Your wisdom or guidance.
As we reflect on this scripture, it is clear that when Your presence was not sought after in the prescribed manner, consequences followed. We have seen these repercussions in our own lives as well, when we have rushed into decisions without prayerful consideration, when we have neglected to wait on Your timing, and when we have pursued our desires rather than seeking first the Kingdom of God. Lord, we acknowledge that any breach in our relationship with You is a result of our choices. Let us not be like David, who learned through adversity and consequence that Your order is essential in all matters.
Help us, dear God, to recognize the value of seeking You in every aspect of our lives—from the mundane to the significant. Teach us the importance of bringing our plans before You and laying them at Your feet, welcoming Your guidance and intervention. May we be diligent in prayer, desirous of reading Your word, and committed to understanding the truth found therein. Instill in us a yearning for repentance, a deep desire to turn away from our mistakes, and a resolute commitment to seek You in the manner You have prescribed.
Father, we long to see restoration in the areas of our lives where breaches have occurred. We humbly ask You to mend our hearts, restore our spirits, and heal our relationships. May Your grace abound in the places where we have faltered, as we surrender our will to Your sovereign hand. Lead us back to You, Lord, so we may be ever more mindful of how we seek You, and in what manner we honor Your calling over our lives.
We also pray for the body of Christ—the Church. Help us as a community to diligently seek Your face together, recognizing the importance of collective prayer and worship. Let us be a church that orders our steps according to Your Word, aligns our teachings with Your truth, and seeks Your wisdom in every decision we make. Unite us in purpose and help us to encourage one another to pursue You together in order to fulfill the great commission You have laid before us.
In our quest for restoration, may we never forget the lessons of the past but instead, hold them dear as a reminder to seek Your presence with intentionality and sincerity. As we commit ourselves afresh to seeking You with all our hearts, we are confident that You will fulfill Your promise to be found by us as we draw near to You.
Thank You, Lord, for Your unwavering mercy and grace that allows us to return to You, to seek You anew, and to find shelter in Your loving embrace. May we always honor You in all that we do and say. For it is in the matchless name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
